FAQ

  • My floor is power-floated will the secure standard coating be ok?
    This coating can be applied BUT after acid etching, if this type of area isn’t acid etch’d prior the coating may not adhere.
  • My floor has recently been screeded can I use the secure superior paint?
    New screed needs to be left a minimum of 12 weeks and then we always advise a water test to determine if the area needs acid etching.
  • What is a water test?
    Drop a small cup of water on the area and wait 15/20 mins to see if the water either A) soaks into the floor or B) beads and stays on top of the surface. If the water beads on top this usually means it need acid etching before any coating is applied.
  • My concrete slab has been down 4 weeks can I now paint it?
    We advise a minimum cure time of 12 weeks before any coating is applied.
  • What product is best for my concrete driveway?
    Either of the "Secure Standard floor paint" or "Secure Superior floor paints" both would do the job, the superior would likely last longer so depending on how much the driveway is used you may want to go for the superior but both are fine to be used outside on concrete.
  • I want my floor to be high gloss will this coating get this finish?
    This floor paint is a semi-gloss, as any high gloss coating could potentially be a high slip hazard especially when wet.
  • Will this coating fill gaps and cracks in the floor?
    Unfortunately this floor paint will not fill gaps we recommend using a floor preparation filler to achieve a perfect finish and then using our product to give the area a nice uniform finish.
  • Can pre seal be applied on top of the floor paint to give a gloss finish?
    No pre seal is not a final topcoat and is not a clear coating.
  • We use bleach and industrial anti-bacterial floor soap will this paint stand up to this?
    Yes our products are semi gloss which makes areas easy to clean.
  • My floor is tiled will this coating be ok?
    No we do not advise to use our products over floor tiles
  • My floor is linoleum will this paint be ok?
    No this paint will not stick to lino or bitumen surfaces.
  • We are painting on Saturday will the secure standard floor paint be dry for Monday?
    At 15°c this paint will be touch dry in 10 hours and through dry after 24 hours, we recommend to apply in sections and keep off the fresh coated area for minimum 3 days, if temperature is lower than 15°c this will affect the cure times and thickness of application will slow cure time down, Two thin coats are better than one thick coat.
